31 Jan 2009 - Recorders

I am sure that most of you played the descant or treble recorder at school. Perhaps you thought it was awful playing the same part with a lot of other people. Squeeks must have abounded. We hope we aren’t like that (we know we aren’t). We play two or three to a part, so anyone who is not quite so confident, has someone else to play with who has more experience. We play music from the Middle Ages, right up to the 20th century. We have recorders from the smallest (sopranino) to one of the biggest (bass). Occasionally we play at a local school, and sometimes give an afternoon concert, followed by tea for our families and friends. We meet about once a fortnight in term times, and a good time is generally had by all.
If you have a recorder at the back of the cupboard that you might like to get out, dust off, and play, come and join us. You are assured of a welcome.
