 Samuel Pepys  and His
Diaries
Peter studied history at Cambridge and
developed great enthusiasm for the 17th
century. Following retirement from public
life in Whitehall and Brussels he continued
lecturing on historical themes.
Drawing on the famous Diaries he shows
how Pepys became the first modern Civil
Servant breaking free from Medieval
systems and developed procedures still used
today. He will use material in the Diaries to
shed light on society of the 17th century
London, how they lived, worked, dressed,
